Trip to Deception Pass

With Amber visiting, we decided to take her to Deception Pass. The swirling whirlpools under the bridge are treacherous. The waterway is called the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

When you visit, you can park after the bridge and walk down the trail all the way to the water. Some die each year when going off the trail, so stay on the trail. You may also stop at the Deception Pass State Park before the bridge and visit the water. We have done both and they are very similar.

We hold no beauty higher than Alaska, where Amber lives, but it is definitely a beautiful day.

A magical misty day.

This is the Victoria Clipper that travels from Seattle to Victoria everyday.

Marnie enjoying a day out to the beach. Pacific Northwest kids enjoy the beach no matter the weather.

Reunited

It warms a mother's heart to see the family of Volkswagens home. That means big dinners, lots of games, singing, and Texas sheet cake.

We found Bonnie sitting in the boat in the yard. She was voyaging somewhere in her imagination, very safely.

Temple Visit

If it's Thursday, we are heading to the temple. We were glad to have Amber and Jackson with us. Of course, we needed to stop by Teriyaki and More for a little something before our shift. The weather couldn't be more beautiful. It really is the best time to be in the Pacific Northwest. I was a little worried about Amber getting lost in the temple because it is 110,000 sq. ft. but she did great and enjoyed the evening.

Genealogy

Today I was going through the Frazier family pictures and trying to identify everyone. It's tricky because not everyone in the photo is family. Some are friends. But FamilySearch is helpful in building the tree. And then I can add the photos are memories.

This picture is of Paul's grandparents, Dorothy Cox and Richard Frazier. They lived in Minnesota for years before coming west.

Here is Dorothy in 1930 in British Columbia.

Isn't she a cute little girl? I doubt she was much taller than 5 feet when she was an adult. When I knew her I was struck by her Britishness. She was all about proper manners and behavior.

Family Reunion 2018

We enjoyed a wonderful McKay family reunion in Alton, Utah this year. What a fun place to get together. We met Marnie and Jack there as they had driven from Rexburg. Jack brought Amber since they are engaged (lots of PDA) so it's fun to have her with us. I love to see Tad and Liz. Nana recently had back surgery through her neck, so she has to wear a neck brace. But at least she was able to come.

Every year we have a craft and although I am not a jeweler, I can do some Hobby Lobby crafting. I made printed copies of these photos in tiny sizes. These are Nana as a little girl.

We played lots of games, including a fun one where t-shirts with candy bars taped on are worn by the men. They then run around the room while children try to grab them off.

Alton is in a very remote location. While we were there the river was flooded briefly, but man, those Utah rivers are dangerous.

What a great time we had!

I made a baseball game with kiddie pools as the bases and used a beach ball for play. Super fun for a group!

I love family reunions!
