Romeo

This is our neighbor dog, Romeo. He visits daily and lays his huge body in the middle of the kitchen floor. It is appropriate that Marnie took this pic on Valentine's Day. He's a lover dog!

Over the years his face has gotten whiter, but he has always played well with our dogs. He was happy with Yuki, Cecil, and Rufus.

New Fused Work

I have been inspired by a quote from Laura Wasilowski, read at my last Design class. She simply reiterated the need to work. Get to your studio and put something together. I stew and draw and wonder before I start something. I think there is a place for that. Sometimes, however, it is great to just start putting fabric on fabric.

All fused, but not sure it is finished. Perhaps I should add a little more bright color out toward the border.
When I am not sure about a piece, I go cook something.

Something yummy, perhaps?

Bunny Hunt

We went to visit my friend's to see bunnies this weekend. Hopefully, we will get a few next month when they are weaned. Marnie can hardly wait!

Karen's entire backyard is filled with wild bunnies, but these big ones are in shelter and well-fed. It reminded me of getting rabbits when I was a little girl. We traveled to Utah in a rented RV and on our way back we stopped at some friends of my parents. They gave us Bun Girl and Bun Boy.

Assignments

January's assignment was to take a panel and do something new and different with it. Often we just border the panel and becomes boring. I fused this piece, cut it, and satin stitched it onto a red background.

February's assignment was to find a pattern in your home and create a quilt. This was from the windows in my house.

And finally, December's assignment was to create positive/negative images. This is #1 of 4 trees that I finished quilting. It is all fused.

More Trapunto Work

There is nothing more rewarding than loving the quilt AFTER you finish it. Most times you are ready to just be DONE.

Trapunto Work

I've been doing some trapunto work on a customer quilt. Sorry the first pic is upside down!

Inspired by Melody

I just love Melody Johnson's work! She really inspires me to "just get to work" and make something. In my previous life, I thought fusing was cheating. Thank heavens for the Chicago School of Fusing.

Storm At Sea

Last week we had Reynola Pakusich come to Stanwood and teach us new Storm at Sea patterns. This is so easy with only 3 kinds of blocks. I've been using up my hand-dyes with some black batik.

Diana sent me the book and templates a few years back, but this is as far as I got. Now I have lots more blocks to create a bit of color switching.

This is my winter friend. Sometimes I am lucky when my children put some wood on the fire before they go to school. I only realize their gift when I walk downstairs and it gets warmer and warmer the closer I get.

I cleaned up my studio and Chuckles appreciates my work.

Sparkle Quilt Fabric

I just can't get enough of my new fabric! Unfortunately, I have too many projects in process to begin. Over at Oh, Fransson, there is a Sparkle Quilt that has my name all over it.

CIQ Meetings

Here is a little fun from our last Camano Island Guild meeting. Every week we feature a Show-and-Share so members can receive a good round of applause.

Inspiring!
