Grandpa's 80th Birthday

Our purpose in coming to Salt Lake was to celebrate Grandpa's 80th birthday. We had a wonderful time seeing everyone, eating delicious food, and playing volleyball. Someone thankfully remembered to take a picture.

Jackson is the only one missing from our family as he is in Peru. After this event we were able to attend the Provo City Center Temple. The last time I was in this building was when it was the Provo Tabernacle. I played the organ for stake conference and it did not go well. It's best that I forget the whole thing.

Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show 2016

I don't remember where I heard of the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show; perhaps it was Opal talking about Freddy Moran. When I decided to go, I mentioned it to Wilma and she agreed to go with me. We stayed in a place in Bend and drove into Sisters every morning during the week. My sister-in-law Beth gave us the points to stay in a really nice lodge.

I enjoyed a class with Kathy Doughty from Sidney. Although I tried to create a unified piece, it was too difficult for me. I ended up using these pieces in separate mini-quilts.

I also enjoyed a class by Laura Wasilowski of Chicago School of Fusing. We began with black fabric and fused on top of it. Later, I used perle cotton to quilt it up.

On Saturday, the biggest outdoor quilt show in the world was on display.

Both of my quilts sold, which made me giddy. Someone caught up with me when I was a few blocks away to let me know the tags had been pulled. We raced back to take pictures.

I've decided I have to make this quilt for next year's show. It is Jennifer Sampou's Octagon Shimmer.

Meeting up in Salt Lake

The cousins finally got to meet each other at Grandma and Grandpa's house. They were properly curious. It will be fun to see them grow up at about the same age.

We visited the Salt Lake Temple and attended a session there. The history inside this temple is incredible. I would love to be an ordinance worker there.

Finally, we went to Tucanos where Katie promptly gave Jim a lemon. He loved it!
